Two Decades of Partnership, Innovation, and Trusted IT Support

In 2006, three IT professionals with a shared vision came together to form Trichromic LLP. Twenty years later, we’re proud to still be here—supporting businesses across the UK with the same commitment to partnership and practical solutions that we started with.

This milestone isn’t just about us. It’s about the clients who have trusted us with their technology, the relationships we’ve built, and the journey we’ve taken together through two decades of extraordinary change in the IT industry.

How It All Started

Trichromic was founded by John Sawyer, Alex Bailey, and Lloyd Reid—three individuals who had each been running their own IT support businesses in Essex and London for several years. They recognised that their skills complemented each other perfectly, and that by joining forces they could deliver something greater than any of them could alone.

The company started out supplying hardware, software, installation, and reactive IT support to small and medium-sized businesses. In those early days, IT support often meant turning up with a toolkit and a stack of CDs, installing software from physical media, and configuring servers that lived in cupboards under the stairs.

Between them, our founders brought decades of combined IT experience to the table. John had spent over 40 years in the industry, developing a talent for translating the vision of non-technical business owners into practical solutions. Alex had spent years designing industrial process control systems before moving into data acquisition and communications in the pioneering days of IT. Lloyd brought over 20 years of experience building and supporting technical solutions, with particular strengths in data and telephone networking and a passion for exploring new technologies and explaining how they can help businesses grow.

This blend of commercial understanding, technical innovation, and hands-on problem-solving became the foundation of how Trichromic operates—and it remains at the heart of what we do today.

Twenty Years of Change

The IT landscape in 2006 was unrecognisable compared to today. Cloud computing was in its infancy. Microsoft 365 didn’t exist. Smartphones were a novelty. Cyber security meant little more than antivirus software and a firewall.

Through all of this change, Trichromic has evolved alongside our clients. We’ve transitioned from break/fix support to proactive managed services. We’ve moved from on-premise servers to cloud solutions. We’ve developed expertise in cyber security, compliance, and data protection that simply wasn’t needed twenty years ago.

What hasn’t changed is our approach. We still believe that the right solution doesn’t have to be the most technically complex one. We still listen to our clients and focus on what their business actually needs. And we still work hard to build the kind of long-term partnerships that allow us to truly understand the organisations we support.

Today, Trichromic is a leading managed services and cloud solutions provider, supporting clients across the UK. We’ve invested continuously in developing our capabilities—from advanced cyber security and Microsoft 365 expertise to comprehensive backup solutions and compliance support.

We understand that modern businesses want flexibility and scalability. They want a trusted technology partner, not just a supplier. They want proactive management of their IT systems, whether those systems are on-premise, in the cloud, or a mixture of both.

We also recognise that every client is different. Some need fully-managed IT services; others prefer traditional support options. Some are ready to embrace the cloud; others have requirements that mean on-premise solutions still make sense. We meet our clients where they are and help them get where they need to be.

Twenty years is a significant milestone, and we couldn’t have reached it without the trust and loyalty of our clients. Some have been with us since the very beginning—through server upgrades, office moves, cloud migrations, and everything in between. Others have joined us more recently. To all of you: thank you.

We’d also like to acknowledge John Sawyer, who has now retired from his role as Commercial Partner. John’s four decades of experience and his gift for understanding what clients really need helped shape Trichromic into the company it is today. We wish him a well-deserved retirement.

Alex and Lloyd continue to lead Trichromic with the same passion and commitment that started this journey twenty years ago. Lloyd’s technical expertise and his ability to clearly explain how new technologies can benefit businesses remains as valuable as ever in today’s fast-moving IT landscape.

What started as three partners has grown into a dedicated team. Our full-time technical staff and specialist contractors work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep our clients’ systems running smoothly. Their hard work, expertise, and commitment to getting things right are what make Trichromic tick—and we couldn’t do it without them.

Looking Ahead

As we enter our third decade, the pace of change in technology shows no sign of slowing. Artificial intelligence, evolving cyber threats, new ways of working, and increasing regulatory requirements will all shape the IT landscape in the years ahead.

Whatever changes come, our commitment remains the same: to be the trusted technology partner that helps businesses navigate complexity, stay secure, and focus on what they do best.
